I started thinking about people who mumble today, and remembered my college neighbor. He was a really smart, sweet and helpful, and probably the most quiet guy in the dorms. However he had this one bad habit; he mumbled. I remember us having long conversations where he’d talk a lot, and I wouldn’t understand a thing, disguising this as much as possible by nodding, mm-ing and saying yes at odd intervals, hoping it would fit whatever he was talking about… It just goes to show, I guess, that high intelligence and good articulation don’t necessarily go hand in hand…
