View vs. Weather

Friday, August 12th, 2005

I have the most amazing view from my home. It’s up in the side of a mountain overseeing the ocean. These pictures actually show more or less the view I have right now, sitting at my computer. Of course, it’s pitch dark, so I can’t actually see it, but it’s there. Weather permitting, it is excactly as beautiful as the pictures suggest.

This first picture is taken in August 2004, on one of those, believe it not, rare days of beautiful weather.
summerThe winter picture was taken in October. This was the first snow fall this winter. It’s not easy to see, but it was actually snowing big snow flakes when I took this picture (which would explain why there’s not much of a view…).

But when the sun is not falling and the snow does not fall, it’s raining. And then raining. And guess what! We get some more rain! Yep. Rain is the weather by default. I don’t know how many days of rain we have during a year, but trust me: It’s a lot!

Lucky me then. I like rain. What’s better than to snuggle in a comfy chair (or im my case: a couch) wrapped in a warm blanket with a good book (or in my case just as often my rather amazing laptop)? Not much if you ask me. So now I’ll retreat to my couch and my blanket and my book (or maybe my laptop this time). Good night to you all!

That Darn Computer!

So I was sitting here, writing a new post for my blog, when it all went black. The computer turned itself off, completely without any sense of respect for a poor blogger and her hard work!

My computer always turns itself off when I’m in the middle of something. The more into it I am, the more likely it decides to take a break. It never recesses when I’m not sitting with my hands on the keyboard.

Even though my computer takes a leave of absence, the speakers do not. They unequivocally add to my distress with a loud crack that makes me jump off my seat. And this happens every – single – time! And, as if that wasn’t enough, my oh-so-easy-to-scare cat is now no longer sleeping in my lap, but rather trying to get her claws as near as possible to my femur.

So what about the post I was writing on? It’s gone.

PS. While writing this post my computer needed yet another respite. However this time I came prepared: Remember to Save
